Fellowship Program Description

  • Outpatient Clinic Setting: The fellows will have a case load and will perform History and Physical, Induction and follow up visits in the primary care clinic. They will also be primary care providers for their patients with Substance Use Disorder.

  • Inpatient Hospital Setting: Fellows will perform initial consultation at inpatient setting and will then round with faculty on these patients.

  • Acute Detox Unit: Fellows will rotate through acute detox unit at our Lakewood, WA campus, and will be involved in the management of patients.

  • Opiate Treatment Program (Methadone Clinic): Fellows will rotate through our methadone clinic in Lakewood, Washington.

  • Wound Care/Hepatitis C Clinic: Fellows will also get chance to rotate through complex wound care and hepatitis C treatment at our Integrated Health Clinics.

  • Didactic Curriculum: case discussion, lecture, work-shop, journal club, peer teaching, improvement project, and research project for publication.

Graduation: A certificate of completion will be award at the graduation.

Prerequisites

  • Graduation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)'s approved Physician Program prior to matriculation into the program.
  • Board certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or successfully passing the PANCE at the starting day of the program. Will accept Interim Permit from new grad.
  • DEA/State License/BLS/ACLS by start of the program. Will accept pending DEA number from new grad.
  • Provide three professional letters of recommendation. For new graduates, one letter must be from Physician Assistant Program Director sent directly from the Physician Assistant school.
  • Official transcripts of Physician Assistant studies and undergraduate studies.
  • Copies of on-job-training or rotation evaluations, if applicable.
